So we're in the grips of a super cold weather front so much snow the City has now opened "Warming shelters" throughout the day at both the Salvation Army Center and a place called the 7-10 Club which is where free breakfasts are handed out.
I'm in from shoveling everything off for the 5th? 6th? 7th? time. Lost count however because it is still so cold the snow is light and fluffy so extremely easy to move. Once we get back up to around freezing & melting the snow will turn to slush and will weight down terribly.
Granted it is still snowing so I now have no idea how much snow we've had - 10 - 12" or so.
Proud of myself for remembering to brush the snow off the solar lights so I'm still getting 'lights' outside.
When I cleared the back deck around 8am the hummers were happily buzzing me waiting for me to put their feeder out. Will swap it around noon as the one out there now will be starting to freeze.
We had sunshine! A lovely morning, so heating off windows open until lunch when we had a sudden quick shower, then a bit more sunshine before the usual grey came back. It was very invigorating to have tne sunlight though.
Geez - Environment Canada is acting like this weather is worse than the second coming. Good to know although I'm sitting in an almost complete white out it is going to get worse with HIGH wind and the WORST is still yet to come????
WORST IS YET TO COME! ANOTHER 15CM OF SNOW EXPECTED + WINDS UP TO 90KM/HR: ENVIRONMENT CANADA
“Snow from an approaching low pressure system will continue today and will intensify tonight. Ahead of the low, southeast winds of 70 to 90 km/h will develop over Greater Victoria early in the evening then spread to the rest of the Inner South Coast later in the evening. Winds will shift abruptly to the southwest late overnight or Thursday morning in the wake of the low with gusty winds. Winds will ease Thursday morning. Damage to buildings, such as to roof shingles and windows, may occur. High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Be prepared to adjust your driving with changing road conditions due to high winds. Surfaces such as highways, roads, walkways and parking lots may become difficult to navigate due to accumulating snow.”
Weather you say, I have just stepped off the plane this morning after 7 nights in Iceland. We had it all cold sunny days, heavy snow days, -6 days that turned into +7 overnight with high winds leading to yellow/orange warnings because of possible flooding to roads ect. Then more snow followed by heavy rain mixed with more high winds. Over 2000 kms covered and I loved everyone ( not sure the Mrs did )
I know members are in varied locations & wondered what sort of weather you are all having?
