Manky grey day and drizzling at the moment but can't complain as the last few have been bright and sunny.

We had sunshine yesterday all morning. What a lovely change, but unfortunately the Electrician sent me a text to say he would be calling in during the morning. I couldn't do vacuuming or anything noisy in case I didn't hear the door ……………… he finally sent a text to say he was on his way at 3.15 and arrived at 3.45 to fix the security lights he had installed a few weeks ago and had be shining ever since.

It gets dark here at 4.00pm and of course he had to turn of the power while he worked in the half dark outside and I sat in the dark inside. I was not amused as I had been looking forward to going out on my electric scooter. Not ideal to use it when the rain is coming down like stair rods. It has rained on this day 19 out of 30 days in the past - tomorrow 22 out of 30!

But as always I will close by saying - "It is Cardiff after all :up ."

No sun no rain and mostly importantly no snow.

Saw swans out back yesterday but so far this morning I can't find them. Hopefully they're here to stay and not just passing through. If the sun was to come out I'd be enticed to go for a walk to see if I could see them but if the weather stays as is I don't think I'll be venturing too far out today.

Very strange day, street almost deserted (just looked at the word deserted and for the first time in my life realised an empty sandy barren waste as I thought of it) been a very weird day. There was little movement of air, very quiet, dark, very dark and a feeling of anticipation and not in a happy way. I spoke to the family several times, but felt very odd. Like Ruby, I've not been sleeping much and it is very hard to be enthusiastic when you feel totally drained. I have had some good days recently though, so not complaining, more explaining.

Of course it rained. :up

Is it the short gloomy days at this time of year that disturb sleep patterns do you think? Are you still planning on going to live near your daughter MD?

The weather forecast is for no rain for the next few days. Can I believe this? :urm:

I do hope so, MD, for your sake! It would be better to give your new conveyance a maiden voyage in dry weather!

:up Well, a few hours of brilliant sunshine while I was "otherwise occupied" just stuff I really needed to investigate and then dull with fairly high humidity. Early this morning I thought I heard very faintly a fog horn for a while - I expect it's because the street is pretty much deserted, no traffic, not any passing pedestrians - I think there was a LOT of partying this week end. Good Luck to them.

My vicinity was busy, busy, busy, with lots of people backwards and forwards and plenty of traffic. Sunny all day but I was too busy cooking a Chinese meal to stand and stare. I am now stuffed to the gills and cream crackered! :a29: :58:

Foggy - but no rain! :fart: Oh. I've just discovered that is not a dancing figure. :snig:

This morning I saw six, yup, six Magpies sitting on the roof next door very calmly. Not showing any interest in each other or the world in general. We often have one or two plus an occasional baby, but never six before.

Have a lovely day, and many more Inshallah. :up

Lovely day yesterday, today 90% chance of rain, 90% humidity - it's rained 22 days of 30 at this time over the last 30 years - BUT it's NOT RAINING NOW. Hurrah!

Apparently Manchester doesn't get into the top ten rainiest cities - good old Cardiff is top for what it's worth.
I find it very strange here, no one seems to mention the weather whereas in Kent it usually followed a greeting as in "Good morning, bit chilly today" or "Good morning, looks like rain" maybe because it's usually grey, about to rain, raining or just stopping raining here.

While they aren't moaning about the weather here like they do in the South East, they are much more upbeat. Very helpful and cheerful in my experience over the last few years. :up

Indeed I am getting on with my plans FAB. So far nothing medical that might keep me back...… I had been getting some things checked out here in case I needed another operation etc. but I am registered in Ibiza and it turns out that the medical facilities there with GPs for instance are much better than here. Also free, but I think you pay for medicine. I thought I lost part of my pension too, cos I have it made up to the minimum here, but apparently I will not for which I'm grateful.

The clock is ticking so I've agreed with my daughter that I should go back and forwards a few times, ferrying stuff and not have one dramatic evacuation. I have arranged for my artist friend escort me to Ibiza at the beginning of February.

I have to stop taking over responsibilities that really aren't mine I realise. For example getting all the repairs and renewals done on this 120 year old house. It's enough to have sorted and cleared all the "stuff" from 3 generations, got new efficient heating and the electrics improved and safe ( apparently my hand was frequently half an inch from a main incoming wire and we had no mains fusebox) I might not have been writing this. :o

Disposal of other people's stuff is not my problem, like the 130 odd tee shirts of my daughter's ex that I folded and packed and he shows no interest in removing. It's more than enough to sort it out for them as my daughter says " Now spend more time doing what you really enjoy" and I am indeed. :up

I know I have said it before but January is my least favourite month. Short days and miserable weather. Today is going to plan BUT the plus side is that the days are getting longer. OK, it might only be one or two minutes a day but at least it is on the up. :up
And so the seasonal cycle will start again and we will be thinking about holidays. Roll on ;)

Glad to hear that MD. Hopefully Brexit won't affect your (or our) S1 health cover, it sounds as though Ibiza is as good as France for GP's etc.

Re the repairs packing etc it sounds as though you have done more than your fair your share already. Your daughter is absolutely right it is your time now!

Good to see you Grandad, I agree January is not a nice month, that is why we are getting away for it & February.

So far we have been very lucky weather wise, the grey went Xmas Eve, we had a rainbow and then the sun came out. It came out again Christmas Day & we have had wonderful bright blue skies ever since, today was a bit overcast but sun is predicted again tomorrow.
