The headline in the Daily Mail yesterday read thus:
Five wild elephants trample a Thai
rubber plantation worker to death
after circling him on his motorbike.
This makes me sad, because I feel very sorry for the friends and family of the poor man who was killed and the headline makes a laughing stock of the situation. Really the editorial staff of the Daily Mail are ignorant.

Re: Clever Elephants
Am I missing something? or was the headline "Clever Elephants"? and then the story line of them circling and then killing him?

Re: Clever Elephants
I can see where you are coming from MD but I DO think this was an innocent and unfortunate grammatical error. The same words would perhaps have read better thus:
Five wild elephants trample a Thai
rubber plantation worker on his motorbike, to death,
after circling him .
Five wild elephants trample a Thai
rubber plantation worker on his motorbike, to death,
after circling him .

Re: Clever Elephants
There were a lot of comments on the lines of "why did he let them ride his motorbike" and so on. I do think it was one of the worst headlines I've seen.
In view of the general lack of grammar in the newspaper I think it was more likely an ignorant error than an innocent one.

Smile! It confuses people
