I think I knew all or at least most of those. One that intrigues me is looking up and seeing stars from the bottom of a deep well or a chimney during the daytime. Would like to try that :?:

Bananas are herbs. Wild Bananas have seeds and aren't commercially viable. However the modern dessert banana is an odd sport which produces beautiful flowers but the seeds don't develop.

They have been selectively bred to a commercial standard and are propagated from "pups" which grow at the base of the main stem - which in it's turn dies after producing it's first crop. I used to get several pups from each parent plant and just choose the strongest to grow on for the next year.

Sports are still quite common, I have a few plants in my Luxor garden that are about one third the height of the rest and have very small bananas.

I suppose they could be spread by rootling animals like pigs tuning over the soil ad thus moving the pups away from the parent.

But how maize is spread naturally foxes me - any ideas?

Back in the day many bananas had quite large seeds, I still remember eating them with large black seeds in the centre, but as you say modern cultivars cannot reproduce that way.
