Going To Church In Chicago
When I heard Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson
were guest preachers at a nearby church, I
decided to go there and check them out in
person.
As soon as I sat down, Reverend Sharpton
came over to me. I don't know why, maybe it
was because I was the only white person in the
church. He laid his hands on my hand and said:
"By the will of Jesus the Lord Almighty, and the
will of God, you will walk today."
I told him I was not paralyzed.
Then Jesse Jackson came by and said: "By the
Grace of God, and his Son Jesus, the Lord
Almighty, you will walk today."
Again I said that there is nothing wrong with me.
After the sermon I stepped outside and lo and
behold --- My Car Was Gone !
Amen

@ Grandad - not a coded message from the Almighty more like a clip of what the reality of living in Chicago is like. It is really pretty grim there. Like living in a war zone. Chicago has a HIGH level of violence.

Re: Going to Church in Chicago
Is it really that bad LLL? Chicago is the only city west of the UK that I have ever visited. That was about 20 years ago for a trade fair. I wasn't aware at the time of any high level crime and actually really enjoyed the city.

Re: Going to Church in Chicago
Chicago is probably one of the most dangerous cities in all the USA.
This is a short stats blurb re: Chicago
Shootings over Memorial Day weekend in Chicago left seven people dead and another 45 injured, a count that surprisingly marks progress for the city — and a drop in the number of shooting victims compared to the same period last year.
Monday — Memorial Day — was the most deadly day of the long weekend, with 24 people shot, five of them fatally, the Chicago Tribune reported.
But these totals are lower than 2016’s tally. Last year, there were 71 shootings over Memorial Day, according to data gathered by the Chicago Tribune. Six were fatal.
This year, there were fewer shootings than over the past three years.
There was one more death this year than in 2016, but fewer than in 2015, when 12 of 57 shootings were fatal.
“While any act of violence in this city is one too many, we were able to make this Memorial Day Weekend safer compared to last year with a nearly 30 percent reduction in both shooting incidents and shooting victims,” Superintendent Kevin Navarro said in a news conference.
