New meanings to words and phrases

Post by jewel »

Being a great fan of "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" (radio4) ......some little gems from the recent programme

(I like jack Dees presentation of the programme :) )

They look at words and their meanings........which are always shifting ;)

The team was asked for any new definitions they have spotted recently

Some examples:

"Crucifix" - religious adhesive

"USB" - north american insect

"Fajitas" - what we use gas for in Newcastle

"A la Carte" - A muslim wheelbarrow
Jack...That was TIM that said that!
Tim ...what's wrong with that?
Jack ...I'm sure you'll find out ;)

"Copper" - more like a policeman

"Juniper" - a young Israeli (Tim)
Jack ....you may have just saved your life!

"Reindeer" - a patronising weather forecast

"Claptrap" - a condom

"nano technology" - the wife of grandadotechnology :|

and others......can you think up any words or sayings with "alternative" meanings?

"If you understand, things are just as they are, if you do not understand things are just as they are"
