Being a great fan of "I'm sorry I haven't a clue" (radio4) ......some little gems from the recent programme
(I like jack Dees presentation of the programme )
They look at words and their meanings........which are always shifting
The team was asked for any new definitions they have spotted recently
Some examples:
"Crucifix" - religious adhesive
"USB" - north american insect
"Fajitas" - what we use gas for in Newcastle
"A la Carte" - A muslim wheelbarrow
Jack...That was TIM that said that!
Tim ...what's wrong with that?
Jack ...I'm sure you'll find out
"Copper" - more like a policeman
"Juniper" - a young Israeli (Tim)
Jack ....you may have just saved your life!
"Reindeer" - a patronising weather forecast
"Claptrap" - a condom
"nano technology" - the wife of grandadotechnology
and others......can you think up any words or sayings with "alternative" meanings?
