who do you think you are?

Post by Grandad »

A new series of this program starts tomorrow Monday 9 July at 9pm on BBC one. It is a favourite series of mine not so much for the subjects but more for the research that goes into making the programs.
Tomorrows subject is actor Olivier Colman who was convinced that her heritage was all in East Anglia only to find that a number of generations back she had relatives in India.
Always amases me what records exist if you know where to look.

Marvin Humes, former member of boyband JLS, was the subject of this evenings program. Coming from mixed parantage of white mother and black Jamaican father, it was a fascinating trail back through his great grandparents on both his fathers and mothers sides.
Well woth watching on the iplayer. :up

Last night I got an email through Ancestry from a man in Louisiana USA who did the DNA test and him and me are a very high match to be cousins on my maternal Grannies side. This fellow is 50 and his surname the same as my Grannie's maiden name. Says he was born in Scotland but moved to the USA in 2000. I checked my Ancestry and I can see the match so I've replied back basically saying 'hi' and yes some of the people he has in his Ancestry Tree are probably my relatives too. Will follow up with more as it is rather interesting who finds you and who you actually connect with.

Some time ago I found that a small family of 14 members in Minnesota? had the same surname as me, but also could find no link to any other traceable family members. Weird.
Smile! It confuses people
