Time for a weather rant!
This heat is really sapping my energy! We were threatened with rain yesterday but it never happened and today has been extremely humid. There is no air anywhere, and we have a lot of work to day which is quite heavy. Shifting furniture is no joke at the moment. Anyone care to do a rain dance for me, please?
P.S. Just found out that Tunbridge Wells got everyone's share of the rain yesterday. Flooded - again!

The daughter back east in Quebec said they're have a super bad heatwave. Already 16+ passed because of the heat. Not good at all.
We're warmish with slight showers that keep coming through today.

Re: Time for a weather rant!
My problem with the heat is not sleeping. It is 4.55am here and I have already been up for over an hour. I have a fan in the bedroom but DH keeps turning it off because the noise irritates him, so I wake up soaking wet, get out of bed and turn the fan back on, then he wakes up and turns it off etc. In the end, I get up! By early evening, I'm really tired and ratty, but I know if I go to bed early, the cycle starts again. Don't suggest separate rooms, anyone, because that wouldn't work for me.

Re: Time for a weather rant!
I must admit I'm more comfortable in the heat, but in this area there is no way I would sleep with my windows open, access is too easy. My max/min thermometer hasn't dropped below 80F but it's stuffy. I'd rather have this than normal Cardiff dull grey weather with occasional rain.
A plus is that the large buddleia bush growing out of the chimney has died. A minus is the one in the back "garden" has grown more than 6 ft in every direction although the flowers are opening which does compensate a bit.

Where I am all the lawn grass is now brown, I have not seen it this hot since 1976. Each day seems to get hotter and it is difficult to even think of doing something thar resembles work. If I open my front door and the conservatory patio doors at the back then there is a nice cooling breeze that passes through, even so I have 4 fans on in my home, 1 by my computer desk, 1 in the living room, 1 upright fan in the bedroom that I can set a timer on and a large 20" fan that I stand in the patio door that links it to the conservatory so that it blows cool nightime air into the bedroom. I am sleeping OK because the rooms are comfortable, but jobs outside are on hold as is taking Annie out during the day, her walks are reserved for after 7pm when it is cooler and then we go in the woods for the shade.

I know I'm a wimp but over the last few years, the heat has really got to me. I see DH with sweat dripping down his face, but his skin is cool and clammy, and I really envy him. I just don't sweat - apart from in the middle of the night, when I wake up with soaking wet hair.

Re: Time for a weather rant!
@RS - do you have a hot water bottle(s)? It/they can be filled with ice water/cubes and pushed all over your side of the bed to cool the sheets/mattress. And/or a quick run through the shower works to cool you down too.
I have 3 ceiling fans that I have going off and on, one big old as in ancient old floor box fan and another small desk fan from my work. Opening the front door and back door does create a flow through draft in the house so 'usually' I can cool it to 80 degrees which is ok to me.
If I get up early morning and get the house open and air flowing through it retains the cool not too badly.

Re: Time for a weather rant!
I'm sitting here at the moment with Windows and patio doors open, a large floor standing fan on aimed directly at me and a ceiling fan going full bore! At the moment I feel cool. But I swear if he turns the bedroom fan off tonight while I'm asleep - I'll swing for him! Today I haven't been able to even eat because I feel physically sick at the thought of food - although I have cooked a meal for 'himself'. I am so hot and tired that I really don't know what to do with myself.

Poor old thing Ruby. I don't know, I hate the dark and wet and love the sunlight- but not on my skin and you poor soul are so affected by the sun and heat. I really feel sorry for you. Have a hug.
