Don't Count on Dinner

Post by LovelyLadyLux »

Not that this happened to me BUT I have been out fishing (salt water) for salmon & cod and have had a Bald Eagle come directly at me for the fish I'd just caught (rock cod). They come at you feet first with winds spread. As a bird of prey at the top of the food chain they are afraid of nothing and won't even give an inch for a small airplane.

This was on our local news as it happened to a family this past weekend

They are indeed very bold and powerful birds, but I reckon that video was staged and they were feeding the bird :urm:
When I used to go fishing on rivers in Africa the fish eagles would follow the boat and attempt to scoop up any fish that you brought to the surface.

I think you are right Horus. I don't think any fisherman would have a reason for putting a piece of fish on the back of the boat like that.

I thought the video showed beautifully how the eagle drives all his energy into the back "killing" talon. The force on such a small point is enormous. Wonderful. :up
