ITALY'S INVISABLE CITIES

Post by Kiya »

I'm looking forward to watching this program tonight BBC 1 at 9.00pm.

Florence: using 3D technology & discovering hidden secrets of Florence's Duomo Cathedral (the one I visited when in Italy 2 years ago.

Its stunning cathedral & worth visiting !

They also visit one of the art/museum we went into while in Florence... the Uffizi and learn more about the Medici family's fraught relationship with Michelangelo.

Watched it last night, really interesting and that optical illusion of the floor tiles to create an effect of "looking down into hell" that could only be seen from the walkway around the top of the dome was fascinating to say the least, as was the rest of the programme. :up Thanks for the reminder Kiya :)

My pleasure Horus glad you enjoyed as much as I did :)

Although seeing a lot in 3D & secret passages was amazing I don't think they should the Duomo Cathedral as good as my own photos with all the intricate detail, but it is difficult from the ground to get the whole cathedral as it is massive and then seeing it from above makes it look smaller.

All I can say is " go there & see it "

If your interested BBC4 tonight at 9.00pm The Battle of Bosworth where Richard III is slain then the start of the Tudors with Henry VII

I love this period of history :)

I would love to see it Kiya, but I could not see me leaving Little Annie while I went on holiday, but who knows it may happen. If I do I will invite you along for the ride and you can be my personal city guide ;)

The midges in Scotland can be a nightmare especially on the West Coast :sd I once had a lovely holiday on Mull ruined by the little bighters who would eat you alive in the evening if you tried sitting outside. Picture this scene, four of us sitting outside around a table trying to have a barbecue then the midges appeared, no problem we would light one of those stinky coil things that give of a chemical that they don't like :up 20 minutes later we were all huddled around the complete packet of 12 smoking Mozzie coils that we had lit in desperation and choking to death on the fumes while trying to eat a Hamburger.

I think they occur mostly on the west Coast, or so I'm told, another interesting fact is that they cannot fly in the slightest of breezes, so stay very close to the ground on windy days, I learnt that from a Scottish gamekeeper ;)
