Bad luck.
Tuesday picked up a new dog from the council kennel, a kneehigh white with black spots wire coat bitch. I gave her a bath outside (never moved a foot) clipped her chin and she and Oggie liked each other. Kept her on a lead of course then last night on her string outside in her kennel. All OK. Wednesday took her to the council vet for a chip and passport. The vet knew her, she was rescued in May. So, today as we went down the ground ( no lead) I realised she was stone deaf. Of course she will be going back to the kennel tomorrow, a nicer dog you could not find, but she will not hear the truck, the bike, the van, and will be run over. Why didnt they tell me at the kennel, I would never have taken her - - -

Re: Bad luck.
WHAT?
You're kidding me - the dog is deaf?
What a complete pain for both you and the dog. Why would they not say that it is deaf?
That is really painful for both you and the dog and not at all responsible on the part of the people where you got her from.

Re: Bad luck.
I returned her to the kennel, as deaf dog loose outside would be run over for sure, I cannot 24/7 be outside watching for anyone to come. Neither the manager nor the vet realised she was deaf, so I told them how real shelters work before they put dogs up for adoption. ( this has only been open a couple of months - new law) I sat there with 3 more dogs loose, one was too old, one was too hairy and old, and I chose the 7 month beige bitch. She will be sterilised in two weeks time. She has picked up the lead walk, and has learnt not to bark at the cats - Tipi whacked her ! She was in shock when she saw Glory, Oggie accepted her, she learnt there is no henchasing here. So far all is well. - - - -
