Re: What are you doing today?
I just received an email advising that my 'buggy' has been dispatched for delivery tomorrow. I also just received a text from Boots pharmacy that my next prescription is ready for collection.
Looks like the first trip will be to the town centre on Friday to collect my prescription.
At my last glaucoma clinic appointment early March the doctor said she wanted to refer me to see a consultant in 3 to 4 months. I thought I would chase that up this morning and have an appointment on 4 June. That is exactly 3 months so it is often worth being pro active and pushing the system.
Quite a satisfactory morning.

Re: What are you doing today?
Today so far I'm staring out the window at the rain and thinking about what I might get up to. Talked to a gf I the next town up Island and she & her husband are just back from a 35 day cruise about South America and Easter Island. They were just heading out for a walk so will touch base later this week to see what she/they are up to this weekend and maybe we can get together. They went on Princess, was excellent so am wanting to hear more and see their pictures.
Not too sure what all else there is to do. Made a dental appointment for next week for routine check and, of course, am now not looking forward to pottery tomorrow.
Am sure the dust is able to write on itself but somehow I just don't feel like dealing with that.
Am kinda scratching my head and thinking why I'm not in Mexico or cruising about South America myself.

Re: What are you doing today?
I'm suffering many sleepless nights at the moment due to an irritable leg! It starts a couple of hours after I've been in bed and doesn't let up until I physically get up and start walking around. The end result is that I'm getting up at around 2.30am - 3.00am, without any energy during the day. Has anyone else suffered from this? If so, how did you get rid of it?

My wife used to suffer from that RS, it is caused by some sort of deficiency from what I recall, but I can’t think exactly what.

Re: What are you doing today?
Restless legs are an old companion of mine. It seems to go through phases, sometimes better sometimes worse don't know why.
The only thing that helps me is quinine. It really helps if I take it a few hours before I go to bed, but if it's really bad it just makes it a bit more bearable, better than nothing.
This evening it's started early, before I've even gone to bed, which is unusual., so I'll put some heat on them as well. Cold makes it worse.
It is very tiring though. My youngest daughter fitted me with a monitor as she seemed unconvinced that I had a problem. According to the Fitbit I didn't sleep at all! She hasn't mentioned it since.
Oh dehydration makes it worse. It's worthwhile having a small hot drink - I take a flask to bed with me at the moment, I'm likely to be awake between 2 and 5 anyway, but I feel better when it's time to get up.
Sleep well Ruby

Good idea about the quinine, a few Gin & Tonics before bed may well help

Re: What are you doing today?
I get a searing pain across my groin, almost as if someone is directing boiling steam on it. Then the leg starts playing up! So I get up. 3.45am today. Trouble is I can't do much at that time in the morning because of waking people up so I sit and read etc - and smoke more!

Smoking RS? Don't you think that could have something to do with your problems? I thought Kiya was the only one of us on here who still smokes?Ruby Slippers wrote:so I sit and read etc - and smoke more!
Do you take Statins? Do you know what your cholesterol level is? I am sure there must be an underlying reason for your problem and to take some potion might just be hiding the symptoms. Get the symptoms sorted is always my approach.

Have you tried those vaping things Kiya & RS? I know many people who have given up the giggies by using them.

I've no intention of stopping! My husband has never smoked in his life but he doesn't mind me smoking, so until the day comes (if ever it does!) that I decide not to smoke, I will carry on.

Re: What are you doing today?
That of course is your choice I only wish I could have persuaded my late wife to have stopped smoking, I won't labour the point, but if she had I would not be on my own now. Its those left behind that have to deal with the consequences and I am not having a go at you, it applies to many of our vices/pleasures apart from just smoking.

Re: What are you doing today?
Was out to a talk today re: Seniors and the different organizations that are providing this or that service for them. The talk was interested and linked to another venue I was at a couple months ago re: services for Seniors here and the City getting a designation of being friendly to seniors.
This afternoon I'm off to volunteer at the Blood Donor Clinic. Raining sideways which will mean either the clinic will be full to overflowing or nobody will be there cause of the rain.
