Re: With love from me to me
I wish you would stop all this nostalgia stuff Horus........I am drooling over that Gold Star. A buddy in my billet in the RAF had one and let me have a go one day.......OMG.....I could have died and gone to heaven (one way or another ) a very happy airman....
And the throb of those Velo fishtales.....shut up Horus, it's getting too much for me and the doctor says I mustn't get too excited.

Re: With love from me to me
I was stationed at RAF Weeton in Lancs for a while after basic training at Bridgenorth. Another buddy at Weeton had a 650 Thunderbird in the light blue metallic. I only had my old Rudge up there so on days out to the Lakes I would ride pillion with him.
He was called Ray Brunt, a fearless character on a bike. Lived in Bristol and would arrive back about 3am at the camp after a rip up north from a trip home to see the girlfriend.
Look at all this stuff that talking about bikes has uncovered H.

Re: With love from me to me
Here is a very quick clip of my Jukebox playing, severely limited by the 5MB upload.
What you cannot see is the neon type lights changing on the surround, its a shame as the colours are really nice and range from blue, indigo, yellow, pink, green and a few others, but for some reason they will not show up in either a movie clip or a photograph. I suspect it is to do with the fact that they are generated by using LED's and it may be something to do with the flicker rate, anyway here it is.

Lovely, RS, I'm getting over excited again.
Do you remember those big old Sunbeams? And more recently the Suzuki RE5 wankel rotary engined bike.

Re: With love from me to me
Horus I've a good idea how your neon lights look on your jukebox
My sil brother took one back from abroad for her & it stands on one of their kitchen work tops, it looks much similar to yours in shape & with all the bright coloured neon lights when on, I'm not sure if it plays CD's but I know they have the radio it really is nice to look at

Re: With love from me to me
Yes Kiya you can get a smaller model that looks very similar to sit on a worktop, mine is the larger version, not full size but bigger than the 'mini' version you can buy.
On the subject of LCD lights and the difficulty in photographing them, have any of you tried taking a long exposure shot of a car that has the new LCD tail lights? If you do you will find that instead of the usual long red light trail that you would expect, instead you get a series of wide lines similar to tank track marks at spaced intervals behind the vehicle. I reckon it is to do with the rapid on/off sequence of car LED lights, invisible to the human eye but not to a camera that freezes the action.

Re: With love from me to me
Whoops, an oversight, it was the introduction of the Wankel engine that led me there.Horus wrote: Sorry Grandad, but we cannot go bringing Jap bikes into my nostalgia thread, they are henceforth banned
I don't think Matchless or AJS have had a mention yet. And how about the two strokers, Franny Barnett and James, soon followed by the little Beeza Bantam.
Going continental for a moment. I was drooling one day over a Moto Guzzi in my local bike dealers shop. 'Take it for a ride' he said, and let me have it for a day. As I only had it for the day I covered the miles visiting all my friends to show them MY NEW BIKE, not! There is still something special to me about Guzzi's, you can keep your Harleys but give me an Italian job any day.

Yes but the Wankel engine was German design Grandad and not Japo and here it is fitted to another good old British bike the Norton with a twin Wankel engine.

Men and Motorbikes!
Does your love of a motorbike correspondingly increase with the amount of chrome on the bike?
I definitely like the looks of motorcycles that are all chromed out and spit polished. They just make a statement and ideally YOUR statement.

Yep lots of 'quality' chrome and smooth Aluminium to polish to a mirror finish, complete with a class paint finish and of course a stylish tank badge.
