Tutorial Video for uploading and inserting pictures.

Post by Horus »

A video tutorial on how to upload your images to the forum albums and how to insert them into your post, it also contains some information on how to re-size photographs.
Due to the limitations of file size and time allowed for You Tube video, it may be helpful to use the pause function to allow more time for reading some section and to increase the screen size for easier viewing.

IMAGE RESIZING SOFTWARE
You can download Picasa 3.9 using this link:
http://picasa.google.com/
Don’t forget that if you don’t want to download Google Chrome and other associated stuff to uncheck the tick boxes before running the installation. It is always worth checking for a later version after you have installed it, the programme will only need to update itself.

This is the Win 7 version of the ‘Powertoy’ application for Win XP

Keefy has also added a Zipped file that you can download from this forum thread

ANTI VIRUS SOFTWARE
For anyone interested in free anti virus software, you can download the free ’Microsoft Security Essentials’ software while you are at it from:
http://windows.microsoft.com/en-GB/wind ... essentials
This is a good piece of freeware and many experienced members of the forums use it.

You may also like this antivirus software which is also free and can be downloaded here:
http://www.avg.com/us-en/free-antivirus-download
It is not 100% unless you pay for the full version, but it will protect you against viruses and spyware.
Again quite a few people on here use this software, just make sure that you tick the FREE version to download and not the 30 day trial.

You should only have one piece of anti virus software running on your PC as it can slow things down a bit if you have more than one, but on a personal note I have both Security Essentials & AVG running and I have no problems with either, belt and braces comes to mind.

FIXING A VIRUS PROBLEM SOFTWARE
And just in case you may have some problems at any time, then this bit of free software should find any nasties and fix them with any luck:
http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/
Always worth running if you suspect you have a problem on your PC, running slow etc.

DISCLAIMER
Please note that any sites listed here are only suggestions, you must make up your own mind if you wish to run them or not. Care must also be taken when you use any third party site that you are clicking on the actual download button as many will try to get you to download other software such as free registry scans or added toolbars and browsers, these are not always harmful, but they may be something you do not want to have. Care should be taken when downloading anything from the web and I can only say that to date I have found nothing wrong with any of the above links, but should your existing security software show an alarm then do not download the program.

Thanks Horus,
I have to say, I'm finding the system for uploading and inserting pictures to the forums much more convenient with the new formats - provided I've remembered to previously add the photo to my forum album first!

Glad that you ladies found it useful, I even added you some soothing music to take the stress away
Like I said, take it in small pieces and use the pause button to give yourselves more time to take it in and understand what you are doing, any other problems just shout. :up

The problem with text is to try and find something that doesn't clash with various backgrounds, even using just a plain black or white has problems I'm afraid, probably just easier for you to pause the screen at each page chage.
