The political unrest in Egypt has now forced the suspension of fieldwork at Amarna as a precautionary measure, but we are pleased to report that there are no reports of threats to people or antiquities at the site.

Thats good to know

and hopefully things will calm down before desperation sets in amongst people who may be tempted to steal to live.

I would ask the question..Who could they sell any stolen items to ?

This reminds me of an inept thief I once knew..
he did 5 years for stealing a lorry load of Lawnmowers... in the Winter !

The last plunder that took place was during WW2.
Seems that someone nicked Tutankhamun's Penis and breast plate..
Or Howard carter was a bit of a fibber..

Anyhow, fear not ! Zahi will get all the looted antiquities back..

Now theres a thought - - wonder if he is thinking of standing for KING ? ? ? He already has the attitude and for sure would get all Egypts bits and pieces back - -

In answer to your question Bill, there are always plenty of people with money prepared to buy these things, even within Egypt

And I posted a picture on here taken when he was re-intered and he had all his bits then,

so no point in blaming Carter for the missing willy
