Was watching a piece on TV here late last night re: Tutankamun. Seems (as per the News show) that the few looters who got into the museum didn't know the artifacts from the gift shop and basically robbed the gift shop. Seems another looter fell through the roof onto a show case and hurt himself so didn't get anything.......
My first reaction when I saw the smashed display cases and the broken figures laying on the floor was "nothing has changed since they first started robbing the tombs" just the setting was more modern.
Yeah - a tomb robber is a tomb robber is a tomb robber.
I really hope Egypt is someway somehow able to protect its treasures. They belong to the world and it is going to be devastating if there is vandalism and the treasures in the museums and of the land destroyed.
