Epsom Salt and the Garden

Post by LovelyLadyLux »

Is Epsom salt good for the garden? Has anybody ever used it and put it directly ON their plants? Does it help?

Killing slugs ? - - another = Boracic acid - mix with warm water, put in small tins half buried, and no ants will eat your strawberries, as they love this and it kills them. This dries in the sunshine so when watering it gets renewed. 100 gm for 8 euros which will last 2 years. Rats - Bicarb soda, flour, sugar, mix and leave in tuna tins, rats love this and they die with a cement ball in their stomach. I gave this to a neighbour and he cleaned out a whole barn.

Since we're not allowed herbicides here I've opted to try the Dawn dishwashing soap/vinegar/Epsom salt treatment. Most swear it kills off all unwanted vegetation. I've got the mix but haven't used it yet cause I've also read that using Epsom salt in the garden really helps plants grow sooooo just curious if anybody has used it.

I used the borax soaked in cotton balls to get any of the ants that are coming up here and it works super well. Never knew that about the rats though.

What about for rabbit pests? How do you keep rabbits away?

I am ok for rabbits here, the three cats kill and eat them. Before these 3, I had a useless house cat and the rabbits ate over half the rows of lettuce in one night. Just as an aside, I visited a deserted Borax mine in Death Valley and the Oasis of the chinese man who ran away from it. I have two date trees growing from the dates I bought in their shop - - - -
