Something I have always wanted to see and I have often wondered if there is any truth in the song "The Northern lights of old Aberdeen". Can they really be seen from Aberdeen and if so are they any good?

Mmmmmm from Aberdeen no idea, I'm 32 mls north of Abdn, I do remember when a teenager most of my street came out to view an amazing light scene looking further north, no one could say what it was but it was amazing to see & never seen it again since.

I guess to see it best we would all have to travel to Norway...mmmm come to think of it I've already been but never saw the Nothern Lights

Conditions have to be just right but I remember a week or so ago they said on TV that the AB would be visible from the north of Scotland. I would love to see it especially when it is really wild

Apparently they have been lucky the last couple of nights as far south as Yorkshire.....lucky them

It was a clear starry sky but no sign of AB up here

You should have up to 30 minutes to delete a post and 1 Hour to edit your post, though if someone posts after your post then you wont get the option to delete, you can then report you double post with the report button, when you report a post there is a drop down menu, just select duplicate post from the selection and then click submit, a moderator will then be alerted to the post.

I wouldn't worry too much about double posts folks, i usually trawl through the topics and delete any that I see.

I've experienced the Northern Lights when I worked in the far north of Canada years ago. Really really 'eerie' in an extremely beautiful way. Didn't get any photos way back when but they are definitely something to see.
