Literature in Support of AWOL via a KINDLE!
Got this message from our Jayway: The Kindle book, Kathryn Black and the Theban Curse, that is being sold to raise funds for AWOL is free on Amazon from tomorrow evening for two days. Anyone that has an Amazon account and a computer, Kindle, iPad or iPhone can read it. The idea of making it free for 2 days is to try and get reviews on Amazon, and hoping that a UK publisher may read it.
Do download it from Amazon and do tell all your friends.
You can visit the Kathryn Black web site if you Click Here, from where there are direct links to the Amazon, Kathryn Black page.
Do read, do enjoy and do leave a review on Amazon. AWOL needs all the funds that we can raise so do forward this e-mail all your friends.
The second book in the series – Kathryn Black ~ Death in Luxor – will be available later this year and that will not be free – ever. All profits go directly to Animal Welfare of Luxor.
**When I checked this book on USA Amazon.com for Kindle the cost was $2.99. This IS however published on the USA Amazon site: "Editorial Reviews
Product Description
“I adore Egyptology and so the author's vivid writing and scenery spoke to me. Kate's character was phenomenal, her character was hilarious and snarky. I loved it!” ABNA
It was on that fateful day at the British Museum with her guardian, Agnes Westbrook, that Kathryn - Kate to her friends - first became aware of Pharaoh Nakhtifi. This is a Pharaoh that does not exist according to the academics, yet at this very moment, is the sole reason why Kate is about to encounter 3000 year old soldiers, at the bottom of an ancient Egyptian tomb in Luxor. What is worse, is that these ancient soldiers have been sent with a single aim - to kill her. Definitely not something that every thirteen year old expects to encounter, not when on a two week holiday in Egypt, but then after all, this is Kathryn Black.
Join Kate, Alex and their Egyptian friend Cairo as they visit tombs and temples, and experience fear, friendship and humour in equal parts.
This approximately 110,000 word novel with its unique story, where there is not an Egyptian mummy in sight, will leave you wanting to follow their adventures in Kathryn Black ~ Death in Luxor. Available in the second half of 2012.
100% of the author’s profits of Kathryn Black and the Theban Curse go directly to Animal Welfare of Luxor - AWOL. Read, enjoy and know that your purchase will help this very hard working charity, to look after even more of the hard working animals, in the very poor farming villages on the west bank of Luxor.
I've included the USA URL to Amazon.com but maybe Horus or Keefy could add the Amazon UK URL here to make it easier to find.
Just purchased this myself and am hoping for an interesting read this wet afternoon here!

Been here all the time Ruby S, just taking a back seat waiting for people to post some more, it gets lonely talking to yourself, so most days I nip off and do something else.

Mrs H has read it and says that she enjoyed it and if he did any more she would get those as well. She says there are many local places that can be identified by a regular visitor to Luxor.

Anyone who likes a bit of a fantasy read that involves some Egyptology should enjoy this book, it is easy reading and has a bit of a twist on the usual ancient egypt stories. OK it is primarily aimed at a younger audience, but who hasn't sneaked a peak at the kids comics now and then
And ........................... it is cheap as chips to buy, so it's a very easy way to support the charity without jumping through any hoops to donate.
So just buy it! then sit and read a bit of fantasy while you think to yourself, "Ooh, I know where that is, I wonder if so and so will be walking out of the shop" or "Been there! I know just what he is talking about" and .................... you will be helping the animals at the same time.

Re: Literature in Support of AWOL via a KINDLE!
I finished it the other week outdoors with the lovely sunshine we all had
I really enjoyed reading the journey/adventure of Kate, Alex & their Egyptian friend Cairo, sometimes I got lost in my own thoughts wondering what I would have done if I experienced what these 3 did
If you want to know download it now it is worth it.
PS also I took note of the Scottish artist David Roberts mentioned in this book known for his Egyptian oil paintings & sketches, some of his beautiful paintings can be seen if you google his name

Thanks for the report Kiya, glad you enjoyed it
I have a set of A2 sized copies of some of David Roberts paintings that I bought in Cairo on our first ever visit to Egypt.

I love David Roberts' work and have a large 'Coffee Table' book of them. Time it got an airing again I think. :-)
