CAMERA SETTINGS

Post by Kiya »

I will be attending Roy's graduation on Saturday, it will be held in the big hall at college & front few rows of seats taken by the 100 students graduating.

For myself & his sister it will be first come basis where we will be sitting & we could be a distance back.

What settings can you advise me for my Canon ??

The photographer will be taking Roy's photo too but I would like to try myself also.

Kiya, unless you are right at the front your flash will be useless so I would not use it.

In those situations I find the safest option is to let the camera decide with 'Auto' setting without flash.

If the light is a bit low the camera will opt for higher ISO setting so your pictures may be a bit grainy when enlarged. If pictures are a bit dark Elements 7 will sort them out for you. I find Enhance>Adjust Lighting>ShadowsHighlights, then a little bit of sharpening works wonders. :)

Thanks Grandad :) I was thinking along the same lines as you leaving it at Auto, I may not take the camera with me yet as he will get his photo taken with the professional photography.
Best maybe to leave it to the professionals to get a good photo :)

I would go with Auto as well, simple because you are unlikely to get enough time to set yourself up properly. I would also be tempted to set it up to take multiple shots ie burst mode, that way you can hit the button at an opportune moment and hopefully grab at least one good shot out of the several it will take.
