ISIS calls for more attacks in Egypt

Post by DJKeefy »

Islamic State in Iraq and the Sham (ISIS) called on Monday for more raids in Egypt, praising the operations against “the soldiers of Al-Sisi” in Sinai and urges militants to “continue on this path”, in a statement by spokesperson Shaykh Mohamad Al-Adnani Al-Shami titled “Indeed Your Lord is Ever Watchful”.

Al-Shami encouraged militants in Egypt to “rig the roads with explosives for them. Attack their bases. Raid their homes. Cut off their heads. Do not let them feel secure. Hunt them wherever they may be. Turn their worldly life into fear and fire. Remove their families from their homes and thereafter blowup their homes.”

Egypt has pledged to support the US coalition that President Barack Obama called for to “degrade and ultimately destroy” the threat of ISIS.

During the international conference held in Paris to discuss ways to support the new Iraqi government against the threat of ISIS, Egypt’s Foreign Minister Sameh Shoukry said this phenomenon requires “comprehensive confrontation”. He added that dealing effectively with the threat of ISIS necessitates dealing with the political and cultural dimensions that led to its spread.

US Secretary Department of State John Kerry visited Egypt among other countries in the region to ask them to join in the coalition. In a press conference in Egypt, Kerry said that although ISIS fights using the name of Islam, it has nothing to do the religion and it is clear that the group is based on hatred which is condemned by Muslims all over the world.

The US coalition is backed by nearly 40 countries that have agreed to contribute to the fight against ISIS, providing training and equipment, humanitarian relief and flying combat missions.

ISIS stated that it will not be defeated as Obama promised. Al-Shami also said that ISIS didn’t initiate the war and that Europeans and Americans “started the transgression” against them.

Well all I can say on this matter is that it is now up to the Egyptians to take forceful action and commit a good proportion of their army along with other Arab states. The West cannot do this task alone and we cannot keep being seen as the enemy of Islam, a claim that is often made whenever we try to intervene in Middle East affairs. It is squarely up to the Arab countries in the region to defeat this colossal threat to their own countries and any values they holds dear by what can only be described as a psychopathic army hell bent upon regional domination. We in the West can give them (Egypt and others) huge tactical support capable of diminishing their (ISIS) capability to mount any defensive action against opposing troops, but we must not put boots on the ground, that must come from the Arab League. The longer they dither the more difficult the job of defeating them will become and remember it is the likes of Egypt who will suffer first followed by all other countries in the region, so if they really are serious they need to act now and not rely on the West to do their job for them. 8)

Most of the TV shows tonight have been pre-empted for the past several hours as the USA has commenced air strikes in Syria. Seems 5 Arab countries have joined in too however Turkey is absent.

Today - this morning - it was being broadcast all over Canadian news that ISIS has specifically threatened Canada in that they are going to come here, infiltrate to our small towns, grab citizens and start cutting our heads off.

Personally I'm in total agreement that any boots that touch dirt should NOT be OURS. There should be boots but they should be Arab. I fully support that if we can bomb ISIS into next week we should be doing that but not fighting hand to hand in their cities, towns, villages. This means we don't set up tent hospitals and offer social, medical, sustenance to the civilians who friend out troops during the day and shoot them at night. If they're shooting a soldier it needs to an Arab soldier.

I think we can offer technical support and give ideas about how to wipe out this total psychopathic cancer that is invading the Middle East but they have to get it together themselves once and for all and then MAINTAIN their own for their own. Not us.

On another note - apparently Canada thinks that there is something like 30 Canadian fighting FOR ISIS. IMO these people should be rounded up along with ALL their families and set back from whence they came. Too bad if you've all naturalized or obtain Perm Residence or whatever. ONE of YOURS IN YOUR FAMILY is supporting ISIS and you never stopped them or informed on them. IMO that means you ALL go back.

Mostly I honest and truly wish we'd take a rock hard line against this. So long as we namby pamby around and never get seriously serious we're only making it more difficult for ourselves.

Like you said H - we really need to scare the life out of them - REALLY REALLY REALLY SCARE them and then maybe we can re-gain some level of control.

It really could be done if we took the bull by the horns and hit them hard, take out their leadership with drones, hit their homes and their families if necessary. We could use special forces from all nations to tactically remove their leaders, especially target ANYONE who speaks out in support of ISIS, if you approve of them, then you are also a target.

I saw a man on the news last night who was fleeing from ISIS into Turkey, he was wailing that they had attacked his village, looted and pillaged and taken his daughters “What sort of Islam is this?” he wailed to the camera. Well my friend it is YOUR type of Islam, YOU allowed it to happen by supporting these radical types within your midst and doing nothing about it, your Mullahs and your mosques did not condemn it, they did not stamp out this evil and kill it at birth. You were content to wallow in your regional conflicts and centuries old hatreds and listen to backward old men telling you how to live your lives. You were happy to see the Infidel, the Christian and the Jew being the target of Islamic extremism and you did nothing, you did not speak out, you allowed your children to become radicalised. To use a quote from our Christian Bible

Hosea 8:7
"They sow the wind and reap the whirlwind. The stalk has no head; it will produce no flour. Were it to yield grain, foreigners would swallow it up".

So basically they have got what they deserved, the genie is out of the bottle and it is by their own making, but the rest of the world must clean up this Islamic religious mess.

I am somewhat, a little bit heartened to hear that Jordan, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, UAE and Qatar are aligned with the USA in striking ISIS however not ALL Islamic countries are chipping in and joining to do something about them. I fully agree they've allowed Al Quaeda, Boko Haram, ISIS etc etc etc to start, grow and flourish and haven't don't anything to stop them or slow them down and now these religious fanatics are so out of control nobody can stop them. It is seemingly up to us at a GREAT cost to have to step in a clean up a mess that should have never been allowed to start in the first place.

I firmly support that if you're an ISIS member, affiliate, associate or in any way connected then you're toast. I fully understand freedom of religion however we have nothing in writing anywhere that tells us, by law, how we are to deal with this sort of situation and so IMO it must be declared an "act of war" and be dealt with accordingly.

Accordingly means we spare no efforts to totally obliterate the enemy and WIN. If it takes complete annihiliation then so be it as I can't think of anything less that can be used to deal with barbarians such as these especially when their forte is to attack innocent women & children & elderly with heinous cruel barbaric acts of torture.

This news article I found to be relatively disturbing. It outlines how youth of Somali lineage are being recruited in increasing numbers in Alberta, Canada. The article references Edmonton and Calgary that are located in very cold areas (winter) and hot areas (summer) and are primarily economically viable through oil and gas.

I don't personally like reading posts that are mostly a news article however I thought this one interesting as it is very close to what we've been talking about re: recruits and what happens to them and their family if they don't turn them over.

I also think it is all well and good this particular group is looking to gov't to help them stop their youth being recruited but IMO many of the ethnic groups keep themselves relatively isolated from mainstream Canadians and to my way of thinking Somali Canadians are NOT mixing with other Canadians.

That being said many groups do seem to fit in and mix with a couple notable exceptions - those who are Sikh (remain relatively isolated but do not rebel at all against Canadian way of life) and Muslim people.

The article:

Edmonton Somali group wants Harper's help to prevent ISIS recruitment

As U.S.-led forces launch airstrikes in Syria, an organization in Edmonton says it is fighting to keep young people in the city’s Somali community from answering recruitment calls to join ISIS militants fighting overseas.

Mahamad Accord, the president of the Canadian Somali Congress of Western Canada, says at least six young men are missing from Edmonton and believed to have been recruited.

“We all know that there is evidence in the community that some of the boys are missing, and the anecdote that we’ve been receiving is they went missing and they called their parents from either somewhere in Iraq or they call from Turkey and they tell them their intention to join ISIS,” he said.

The news comes after it was learned two brothers in Calgary joined the ranks of foreign fighters with the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria (ISIS). The brothers disappeared sometime in late 2012.

Between 2011 and 2012, they shared an apartment in the same downtown Calgary highrise that once housed Damian Clairmont and SalmanAshrafi– two other Calgary men who were recruited and later died in ISIS operations in Syria and Iraq.

Only one of the Calgary men known to have been recruited had a Somali background. Farah Mohamed Shirdon appeared in an ISIS-released video this spring, in which he burned his Canadian passport and issued threats to Canada, the U.S. and "all oppressors."

Multiple social media sources in August reported Shirdon had been killed in Iraq.

Hoping to prevent further similar losses, Accord’s group has written a letter to Prime Minister Stephen Harper, asking for government support as it combats radicalization.

Community asks for help

“Based on very solid and reliable sources from our community youth and elders, here in Canada and Alberta in particular, 16-25 years old Somali youth are recruited to become ISIS front-line soldiers at an alarming proportion,” Accord says in his letter to Harper.

The youth at risk are first-generation Canadians who are often socially isolated, without healthy ties to family or community and no responsibilities to keep them here, he writes.

“Regrettably, this terror group is using sophisticated and professional network of recruiters and sympathizers to brainwash these young, innocent and vulnerable group ages and it seems that they are succeeding of their criminal activities.”

Accord said he believes local recruiters are luring individuals by offering to help pay for travel costs – essential, since most young men in the community could not afford to make the trip alone.

Now, Accord hopes to work with the authorities and law enforcement agencies to raise awareness and education, in an attempt to prevent further recruitment.

“To counter these terrorist elements, we need a collective approach to fight back and get our local Imams join the fight by educating the youth on real interpretation and meaning of jihad in Islam. They have to reach out the youth and clarify key points of Islam that prevent in participating false jihad and extremism,” he writes.

Speaking to CBC News, Accord emphasized his intentions.

“We’re going to tell our youth very clear that if you go there, you’re going to be killed, that’s for sure,” he said. “And if you ... survive, you’ll be criminal. You’re going to be a criminal [and] you will be hunted and brought to justice.

“That’s one thing that they have to understand: that’s not the key to paradise, it’s the key to hell.”

He is urging parents to be on the lookout for signs their children may be going down the path of radicalization.

“If you suspect your children is going to be recruited ... go to the authorities. Save your child while you can.”
