Anti Spam Law

Canada has now enacted legislation prohibiting unwanted spam! This new law comes into effect today whereby is you're caught sending out spam an individual can be fined up to 1 million and a commercial enterprise up to 10 million. Lots of pro and con discussion.

I have no idea how this law will be enforced or carried out but I guess it does put base line legislation in place to deal with offenders if they're caught sending out spam. How this will affect legitimate businesses who use email am not sure but will probably start an on-slaught of "opt in" or "opt out" emails where you have to validate you actually want the email. I hope it makes stopping an unwanted email easier and I hope it slows (optimistically stops altogether) the selling of email addresses to other businesses who then bombard you with emails.

Personally I hope all my relatives in Africa and other small unknown areas of the world get this message!

Just wanted to report I've gotten just as much SPAM from all my relatives throughout the world offering me investment opportunities and inheritances as always!! This new piece of legislation sure hasn't phased the spammers at all (not that I expected it would).
