Re: Latest recruit

I've just spotted a new member called 'Alice' with a Bahamian flag! Like LLL before me, I'm wondering why they don't post! :ni: Mind you, no-one seems to be posting much lately. :( People ARE posting RS! It's just a pity that their posts are being deleted and dismissed as "sarcastic rants"...

Re: Latest recruit

I've re-potted all my house geraniums, most are flowering well, but I can't identify why one or two plants are losing their leaves. I suspected domestic slugs, but checked when re-potting and that's not the problem, it's not typical of red spider, but I think I'll have to spray them daily in case.....

Can't ever understand why anyone just ever signs up to play games!Without posting! There are plenty of games on internet that they can find, without resorting to signing up to a forum dedicated to Egypt! Maybe this Alice is just a "troll!" Someone who will read aplenty, play games, but never,...

Re: What are you doing today?

Had call today from Egyptian "beau." I am so tired Christine,he said. "Why are you tired,"I answered. His reply.."cos there is nothing to do in Luxor!" I have NO work..I am not busy..I am tired and bored here doing nothing! Wish I had SO little to do! If I thought he'd ...

Re: What are you doing today?

I've taken half-day off work so I could get home today a bit earlier Kiya. At moment I'm just about to start giving my living room a second coat of emulsion. And it's a daunting task.I no longer have the strength in my wrists to apply the paint easily by roller..so it's very hard and tiring work. My ...

When all else fails.

When all else fails and we cannot fathom any reason for the continuing attrocities in the world today..who and what do we blame? Many seem to blame religion. They detest an organized religious structure and totally ignore the fact that "the masses"who are supposedly "brain-washed"...

Re: Canada Day - We're 149 yrs old!

Does Canada still have a lot of people of Scottish descent LLL? Are there still pipe bands, tartan clad bagpipe players, etc? Every year here the pipe bands amass on Glasgow Green for championships, and I recall that Canadian Bands feature quite regularly. I always think of my granny when I see them.Sh...

Re: Canada Day - We're 149 yrs old!

Canada,Canada! I have relations there,Full blood kin from my Scottish granny's side. Her dad,David Fleming abandoned his family and "crossed the water"leaving my great granny to bring up a family of eight(my own gran being youngest)She never knew or remembered her dad.He was the black sheep...

Destruction of a forum!

I can't post on Luxor4u.I've been banned! Bit of a shame really that an "inebriated"woman who finds solace in a glass of wine (or a few)is discarded like a "wet auld cloot"just because she seeks relaxation, after working for a full week, and can't be bothered her arse talking about...

Any more quilts?

Who was the lady on the site who posted photos of the beautiful patchwork quilts she made? Just wondered if there were any more completed for us to see..they were exquisite. I was always hopeless at sewing..but was taught to knit by my granny when I was young. I used to knit all the kids baby jacket...

Re: THE WEDDING 31-8-13

Hi Kiya. Was this the wedding you posted about a short while back and asked for suggestions for music during the service? What did the bride and groom decide on? Did they opt for something modern,or choose something more traditional? Your video was a wee bit "pixielated"on my laptop...but ...

Re: Bulgaria, amazing country.

I'm enjoying Jayway's postings on Bulgaria. I've been as well, though albeit I went to tourist resort (Sunny Beach) I thoroughly enjoyed it and even found the resort calming and refreshing. No HASSLE,made a pleasant change from Luxor. People were very businesslike though.Staff in hotel did their jobs...

Re: Drinking Tea in Egypt

This is such a lovely topic and also evokes nice memories for me LLL. My papa was a miner,he worked "down the pits." I remember clear as day that he took little tin canister to work with him every day. It was small, cylindrical in shape, and divided into 2 sections. He took loose leaf tea in ...

Re: If it's hot you don't get the money!

As this topic has digressed onto recycling, can I just ask for others views on clothes recycling? Here,we have a multitude of ways now for getting rid of old, unwanted, outgrown, outworn clothes! We have "charity"shops. We have shops who buy these clothes for 50p per kilo.We have polythene bags...

Re: Drinking Tea in Egypt

I LOVE drinking tea in Egypt. Always surprises me though, that my Egyptian friends put so much sugar in it! I go to coffee shop with one friend in particular, and he loads FOUR spoonfuls of sugar into the small glass. I gave up sugar in tea when I was aged about 10.I stopped taking it one year during ...

Re: 2nd Luxor African Film Festival to run next March

Sorry to be so cynical...but it will be another non-event! A couple of painted advertisements on a few non descript walls will advertise it! Most people in Luxor won't even know about it...and even if they do,how many will attend? They'll have more to bother them...like feeding their families..rathe...

Re: WEDDING BELLS

Hi Kiya. I've attended a couple of (Scottish)local weddings in the past two years. Both couples were not particularly religious and opted for getting married at the venue,i.e.the hotel itself and services were conducted by humanist society "ministers." The couples opted for "Apache&qu...

Re: Stupid Aussie prank?

If they allowed us nurses to do the job we are trained for and paid to do ,i.e.CARE for patients...then this scenario would not have arisen! Far too much time is spent answering phones and it is a difficult one to call as to whether the person enquiring is genuine or not. But..we're damned if we do ...

Sad news RS. I too offer my condolences even though I'm relatively new member to site. I lost a lovely big brother 18 months ago and losing a sibling is a very hard blow.It goes against the natural order of things as our dad is still going strong and heading into his 86th year. "Those we love d...
